Gary began his career at twenty-three in Atlanta, GA and for over forty years has worked in every aspect of theatre production and administration. As an actor, he has performed at numerous regional theatres including the Alliance Theatre Company, Florida Repertory Theatre, Caldwell Theatre Company, Atlanta Children’s Theatre, The Kenley Players, The Star Theatre of Flint, Cape Cod Melody Tent, the Cumberland Theatre and the Compass Rose Theater. His credits include Thomas Edison in Camping with Henry & Tom, George Sikowski in That Championship Season, Daddy Warbucks in Annie, Deputy Governor Danforth in The Crucible, Charlie Anderson in Shenandoah, George in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, Big Daddy in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird. He has been a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association since 1977.

 

In addition to performing, Gary served as Artistic Director for Atlanta Civic Children’s Theatre, Helen Summer Theatre, Encore Theatrics, and Patuxent Theatre Company directing productions ranging from The Sound of Music to The Crucible. Most recently he served as the Managing Director of the Cumberland Theatre.

 

Gary relocated to Maryland from Florida where he was nominated four times for a Carbonell Award by the South Florida Entertainment Writers Association and received the honor for his portrayal of Father O’Reilly in Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up? Gary lives in Baltimore with his lovely and talented wife Heidi White and their beagles Beau and Elsa.
